Just so you know, I'm not adding new posts to this page quite yet until all the V26 stuff is ready to report. I'm going to keep adding stuff to this page and then I'll put it all together in one big guide once the full version has been released to the main.

Damage Alert: The Hell Guardians now do 22 damage each. Cranes now do 18.

New Quest: Pjedro's Son. (highlight to reveal the walkthrough)

1. Talk to Pjedro (in the Malone Outpost top left house) -- He'll tell you about how he lost his son.

2. Talk to Pjedro's wife Merriad -- she'll tell you a little more of the story.

3. Talk to Pjedro once again -- he'll ask you to go and find his boy for him.

4. Talk to Pjedro's sister Nina in Anundo -- she'll give you a little more of the story.

5. Talk to the guard outside the reaper cave -- he'll give you the runaround and then send you to his captain at the castle.

6. Talk to the Elite Captain. Despite his brutal use of the English language you can now go back to the guard and find out more of the story.

7. Turns out the little brat is in the haunted house. Go there and climb to the 4th floor. Then you have to find the book and stand in front of it. (Go right and then up. It's a book on a podium).

8. When you've stood in front of the book you'll receive a scroll of truth. Go talk to Ayla at the witch's house. She will read the scroll of truth which takes you to the entrance of the Woods of Despair.

9. Find the Bird Fortress which is located in the Woods of Despair -- (Directions from entrance: RDDRRRDL) -- while you're here kill some birdmen, barbarians and get yourself a normal key.

10. Talk to Pjedro's Son. Agree to take him home and you'll warp back to Pjedro's house. Then talk to Pjedro. You'll gain 4000 experience for the whole ordeal.

New Monster: Naga

This little beauty replaces the ice giants (good), does 2 damage, moves like a fast carnivo and gives 80 experience.

New Quest: A Guard's Life (Highlight to see the walkthrough)

Start by talking to the guard by the entrance to the reaper cave
Difficulty 1/10, Time to complete: about an hour.

Kill 20 spiders
then get 10 spider legs
Then go to the castle arena and talk to the guard's captain.
Reward: Exp 250 Gold 400

A few new pics from v26...it's coming as soon as Vult-R works out a server glitch. I can tell you that Vult has added a whole heap of new maps and places to hunt. It won't solve the problems but it will reduce some of the clutter.

Click here for the rest of the v26 guide, the pirate quest guide is below as well as a couple of new things...

The Pirate Quest Walkthrough

I can tell you that the Pirate Quest is now finished. I've got my prize in my grubby little sprite hands and it was worth it. If Vult-R can do a bunch of quests at this calibur then I can assure you we are going to have a lot of fun as EO progresses. Mind you, EO needs a shitload of quests and new maps to accomodate them but I'm liking what I see here.

Spoiler Alert: The walkthrough will be in white so if you want to read it then just highlight over it.

Optimum Character Settings: I ran this character with my mage at level 10 but it is possible at lower levels since combat is not the main focus. CON and potions are the key to completing the quest.

1. Talk to the Old Pirate on the docks at the southeast corner of Aeven. He will ask you if you're a pirate and you say "yeah, I'm a pirate". He's going to want a drink so fetch him 20 fairysodas. Here's my tip on this. First pick up as many as you can from the ground on the docks. Then if you need more head up to the Aeven Pub and pull some from the chests. Buy whatever you need from the bartender to top you up.

2. After you've taken the fairysodas to the Old Pirate he will ask for a drink. Say yes and he will take your sodas (if you bring more than 20 he will take them all). Then he will give you an old treasure map (DO NOT GET RID OF THIS).

3. Go to the top right ship at the docks and talk to the pirate captain. Tell him about the map and tell him you stole it from the King. He will then invite you on a treasure hunt.

4. When you are aboard his ship you need to talk to him again. You'll have to defeat 50 imperial guards who have come aboard. If you are alone there are 20 guards between all the different decks so 3 spawns should take care of that. More if you have to compete. At 6 exp each they aren't worth the effort of staying behind.

5. After you have killed 50 guards talk to the captain again and he will take you to Vulture (vult-r :) Island. Go into the first pyramid entrance.

A note about the Pyramids: There are three traps in the pyramid. The first is a general HP drain that reduces your HP by 4 every 20 seconds. The second are visible spike tiles that go up and down doing 8 damage (if you step over them when they are up you take no damage). Finally, there are hidden spike tiles that do 8 damage each that spring when you step on them.

There are also 3 monsters and 1 boss we'll talk about later. Rats (no change). Tomb Mummies (60 exp and built like ogres in terms of damage and variable speed). And ICE GIANTS?!? (ok...these probably should be changed with something else.)

6. When you are in the pyramid keep your potions handy because you'll need them. Go up one map and then Left. (from entrance U L D L D L U R) In this room you will find the archaeologist -- Dr. . He will babble on about his book of maps which is important later. Trace your steps back to the entrance and then go Right Instead of Left ( from entrance U R R D D R R U U L L L L) and this should bring you to the Great Worm's lair. If you fight the worm know that it is fast but you can also solo it. You get 300 exp for killing it. What you really need to know is that the Doctor's Book is on the bottom left. Step on it to pick it up and then head back to the entrance retracing your steps. (Pay attention to the room with the raised platform...this is important).

7. When you return to the doctor he'll thank you and then you need to talk to him again. Show him your old map (this is why you shouldn't get rid of it). Now retrace your steps to the Altar (raised platform room). When you step there you're status will change again. Once more it's back to the doctor (see why pots and CON are so valuable for this one?)

8. The Doc will tell you that the entrance to the second pyramid is now open so you need to get out of this pyramid and then enter the second pyramid (behind the first one). The solution is LEFT, UP, UP, DOWN (Thanks ORCBOY!!!)

9. Walk down to the treasure chest and you will be rewarded with an Aztec Crown. This is a wearable hat but the quest isn't quite finished.

10. You can now take the crown and keep it or you can trade it. If you trade it to the Pirate you will receive a reward of 6k exp + 1.2K Gold. However, if you trade it with the Scientist you will receive 6K experience.

A long quest. A lot of fun. If somebody figures out the quickest route on the 2nd pyramid maze then let me know and if I've fudged my directions a bit (which is possible) then e-mail a correction to me at WickedFrost@gmail.com

Have Fun

A few v26 notes for those of you keeping track.

There have been three updates -- -6, -7 and -8 since we last talked about the new version. Here are a few of the things about the new version that I can confirm so far.

1. Royal Crowns -- they look shitty and they're dropped by kings. So far everyone sits in the castle and camps for something that isn't a rare drop. Expect to pay about the same that you would for a winged helmet once v26 kicks in over a week -- definitely do not buy one in the first week of the new version...Newbs will drastically overprice a worthless item.

2. Tomb Mummies -- Vult has retread one of our old friends into a vicious machine. I think they have similar stats to the Orcs in the Orc cave. Most move slow but there are a few who move fast. They're located in the pyramid and give 60 exp each. There are also rats there.

3. Speaking of the pyramid. HFS. Me likey. I just got owned in my first attempt to reach the end. I'm told of a king worm but I'm not sure yet. The pyramid map is a huge maze with lots of traps and a constant drain on your hit points. Bring lots of potions and for sure warriors with CON are going to thrive here. Ok...update -- King Worm -- if you kill it you get 300 exp and nothing. Takes a hella lotta time. However...if you go and examine the left side of the tomb first you'll find the archaeologist who will tell you how to do it faster.

4. The book function. Right click on another player and select book. It will tell you a little bit about the quests your friends are on/have completed. Not much more information than the paperdoll but at least it isn't a useless option anymore.

I'll let you know more about the end of the pyramid as I find it out for you.

So you want to be a mapper...

I've been using my alotted gaming time in the past week to do some mapping for Cazz's Odyssey server. Again, you can download the game software at http://odyssey.deadkitty.org/ and I was thinking -- why not do a little bit of a mapping tutorial. Over the next few days I'll be giving you some of the tips that I think will help make you a better mapper.

Episode 1: Layers

Successful mapping is all about understanding layers. Games like Endless-Online which operates in an isometric-2d environment and Odyssey which is a strict 2d game platform as well as all 3d games work on a principle of layering. The more complex the game the more layers there are.

Imagine layering this way. You're probably sitting in a room right now. Consider the floor to be the first layer of your map. This is where you would add carpet or hardwood floor to give yourself a nice base look. Layer number 2 would be the walls and structural elements of your room. Big furniture can also fit in here. Layer 3 would be objects on top of those structural elements, doors, NPCs and other smaller furniture.

In Odyssey there is a fourth layer (BG2) which is a flashing tile. This is meant to add a dimension of animation to maps -- ie torches that flicker, npcs that dance, etc.

Layers 5 and 6 would represent foreground elements. Things that are meant to go in front of a character in the game -- so let's say someone is walking in your room and go behind a chair that chair would be in front of them from your mapping perspective thus being layer 5 or 6.

Layer 7 and 8 would include the substance of the game -- for example you have walls but they must keep a character from moving through. Going through a door is going to take you somewhere but you have to tell the game where it will take a character.

Understanding layers is key to understanding how to develop aesthetically pleasing and properly functioning maps. To map properly you should work from layer 1 to layer 8. Lay down the floor and work your way up. This way you avoid mapping errors, you avoid confusion, and you will keep your game administrators happy with your work.

Looking for a diversion with fellow EO Players.

http://odyssey.deadkitty.org/

Cazz wrote...
Anyway, i've gone and got myself my own Odyssey server, and now that the game
has quite a bit of content it's time everyone played.

It does of course
have a fabulous name : Cazzyland, and the current Gods are myself, Balkoth,
Wickedfrost and Prophet of Fire (you won't know him, but he's a cool guy).

If you don't already know, Odyssey was a 2d online RPG that had it's
souce released to the community, and since then players old and new have been
creating their own servers. The difference between the Odyssey engine and most
other 2d RPGs is basically that the pvp system is easily the best I have seen in
any game. No other game is as intense as a real Odyssey Guild War.

There's only one town at the moment, Granseal, your typical "save us
omg" town that everything evil hates, and wants to destroy, for no good reason
at all. Your first quest is the Granseal well, and if you can't complete it
that's generally a hint that you should perhaps give Odyssey a miss.
Occasionally Granseal is attacked, and as the Guards tend to all die within a
minuite of said attacks, it's up to the players to defend it. Usually these
attacks come from the Vscha, who for some reason are relentless in the
destruction of Granseal.

There are also six other quests open at the
moment, with more being made. They are :

The Bandit cave.

Bandits are often found attacking travellers and fresh new Adventurers,
find their hideout, kill their leader, earn some phat lewt.

The
Necromancers lair.

Zombies have begun to infest the southern forests,
defeating the Necromancer responsible will result in even more phat lewt.

The Corrupted Plane of Water.

Now here's where things get
interesting, after exploring the shore of the Grassy Plains area you'll find a
fisherman who is quite annoyed at the lack of Fish, and the new population of
Water Elementals. After a bit of exploration, a suspicious whirlpool will take
you to the Plane of Water. The protecter of the Water Plane is Sarquis, but as
she has become corrupted, as has everything inside. The result is a world of
dangerous creatures, both Water and Ice, and the promise of lewt so phat you'll
orgasm.

Ancient Caverns.

Picking up an Enchanted Pick will allow
you to break down the wall blocking the secret path in the Bandit Cave, inside
is the remains of a once grand Golden city, now inhabited by various beasts.
Among the beasts are Kaarg Godsblood and his Ogre clan, they are as you might
have guessed, not very friendly, so better go and kill them.

Vladamir's
Mansion.

If you're strong enough to survive the eastern forests, which
are populated by some lovely Trolls, you will eventually come across Vlad's
humble abode, long infested by the minions of the Impaler. To say anymore of
this quest would spoil the joy of it, but expect puzzles, mazes, and some very
phat lewt.

The Wizard's Tower.

A personal favourite, the Tower
is twelve floors of yet more puzzles, mazes, and the strongest monsters yet. But
Wizards are known for their lewtz, phat in nature, so i'm sure the promise of
danger will not put you off.

Now if you've gotten bored and would
like to play it already, jump on to www.odyssey.deadkitty.org and download the
Client. Once that's unzipped, run it, update it, and then choose Cazzyland from
the server list. Otherwise, i'll give you a few hints on how to play.

Still here? Great. First thing you should do when you log on is type
/options and tick "Enable broadcasts", this way you will be able to chat with
everyone online by typing /b "message".

When you die you will drop some
equipment, so be careful.

Check the map name when you enter a new area,
blue means safe, white means players in guilds may fight each other, red means
anyone can fight. Only the Arena and some harder areas are red, so Zemeckis
tends to hang around them.

You do not lose items or experience in the
Arena, so it is a good place to practice your pvp skills.

Do not ask
Gods where quests are, how to solve them, or to warp you back into a quest when
you die, classic rpg style quests are a big part of Odyssey, so we will not
spoil them.

CTRL is attack, Shift is run, Enter is pick up. Movement
should be fairly obvious.

That went on for longer than I intended, ah
well. See you on Cazzyland, er..Folks!

Oh yeah. And while your there don't forget to own Zemeckis. Nobody has yet, but you might be the first.

Have fun.

Hey...usually this is my gig but DF has really nailed the guide down for this version so far. I will update the guide as it goes and as DF updates it on the forums -- E-mail me anything that you learn and I will credit you for it...otherwise consider it DF's work and genius -- even if I add little bits myself.

*Also -- So you know, the v26 guide is my single focus so I'll post anything new up here but this is going to be the main post for a while.

----Tuesday----

Welcome to the new pyramid. The map still isn't done but that doesn't mean Vult isn't working at it. The pyramid now has three rooms in order to test the 26_5 tiles and scripts. In the first room he tests his spike tiles which deal 7 damage to you when you walk over them. The second room contains an HP drain script which reduces your HP by 3 every 10 seconds. The third Room contains a TP drain...spellcasters are going to hate this room.

Vult's also added some changes to the Arena by including spike strips that do damage and some 5 on 5 arenas.

I'm doing a bit of mapping for Cazz's Odyssey server. It's really slow going because this is the busiest part of my work season. Also the scripting function isn't working properly so it's putting limits on what I can do. Anyways -- I don't know if I'll have anything completed this week or not...but I do know that Cazz has 5 quests and more on the way. http://odyssey.deadkitty.org/ to download the client. Play the game Cazzyland to find more of your EO buddies.

DF's Version 26 Guide

Most of the data about classes and items came from the test server version 26-1 pub files which can be opened with a windows notepad. Anyways discuss, I will probably end up going Warrior or Summoner. I think High Priest may be a level 2 class but I can't wait to see. Edit: I added a list of the new NPCs and items.

If you have no clue what the test server is or where to find it check the link below. The new version is currently only for the test server and will not work on main. http://test.endless-online.com/

Quests
There are currently fours quests one at the witch house, another at aeven port, and the last two which can both be found at malone outlet by talking to the local NPCs. Feel free to pm if I got any of the rewards or information on the quests wrong.

Reward: Reward Scroll(gives you 50 exp)
Repeatable: Yes

Pirate Quest
NPC: Old Pirate

After that pay a visit to the pirate captain, Tobias the Cruel. He will ask you a few questions, tell him you stole the map from the king. He will then take you out on the ship. The ship will get attacked and you will need to kill 50 Imperial Sea Guards or die trying. Once you kill those 50 Guards talk again to the pirate captain on the ship (you can keep killing guards if you want) and you will then go to Vulture Island where the next stage of the mission is to find the pyramid entrance (not completed yet). FAQ
Q: I can't move, everytime I try to walk I warp back or get disconnected. Why?
A:Simple you are probably running on a outdated patch, you can download the latest patch by clicking here.

Q: How do I get a class?
A: Talk to the Wise Man at town square.

Q: Why can't I learn a spell I'm the right class but I can't learn it.
A: Most likely if you haven't relogged in after you changed your class it won't let you learn the spell, all you need to do to fix this is sign out and then sign back in. If you still can't learn the spell you are missing something such as gold, level, or stats points.

Q: Why can't I finish the pirate quest(or any other quest)?
First of all the quest system is a little bit buggy and some quests are glitched. Another reason not all quests are repeatable, if you have done the quest once you may not beable to do the same quest a second time.

Q: I'm stuck on the pirate ship and I'm to lazy to kill 50 pirates?
A: Simple enough you can scroll out or attack one and have him kill you.

Q: How do I get reward scrolls and are they really rare?
A: You can get reward scrolls by doing the Quest of Pinkness, there not rare but they do give you 50 exp points and you can do the quest as many times as you like.

*Spoiler Alert*:The next two sections contains names and images of the new items and npcs, if you do not wish to see them please skip over it. But if your just going to ask questions about where everything is located and what they are then go on ahead. On a side note these items and npcs may not be in the game, everyone of them with a [x] means that they have been discovered and confirmed.

Items
[ ] Plaot Robes
[ ] Bag(shield equipment)

Ok. It is inconceivable to me that Storm Large was cut from Rock Star: Supernova last night. I mean, OK. It's not like it's a real competition for who's actually going to win. I think we all know that Toby has the gig locked up unless he gets his heart pierced by a stingray. Still -- Dilana has put in some pretty bad efforts in the past few weeks while Storm has been turning in some awesome performances. I just don't get it.

Anyhow. I'm sitting on the Test Server right now and dreaming. Dreaming of how Endless-Online could be so much better if this was what we had to deal with in terms of congestion. I mean a reaper cave with only 1 or 2 people in it. A haunted house with only 3 or 4 people.

The problem is that as Vult-R has increased the server size for the game he hasn't increased the world to match. Don't get me wrong, the new areas are great. But the current mapset is capable of supporting a maximum of 100 players. The Endless-Online world needs to increase by quite a bit. We need between 20 and 25 more meaningful areas where you have the opportunity to gain experience or get items.

The problem is that right now you cram 40-50 players into every meaningful area which makes it irritating for anyone who is lower levelled and boring for anyone in the upper eschelons. 20-25 new areas with good weapon additions, experience, and space to roam would ensure camping numbers would decrease and the ability of monsters to defend and challenge would increase.

Just a thought.

v26 is coming to a test server near you.

Well that's the promise anyways and it seems like the test server is going to be used in a way that it should have been used in the first place --> FOR TESTING! v25 marked the start of that trend on a very limited basis but the promise for v26 is more extensive testing which is probably the best thing that I've seen come from Vult-R in terms of game development. Props for that.

I've only seen the one screenshot from the developers server that has the pyramid/Egyptian looking theme and it looks like Arvid and Laine have done a nice job at tiling once again. I hope that there are more areas (many more) for us to see their ever-increasing skill with the graphics of the game.

Which brings me to that point -- Arvid and Laine have really grown in their pixelling over the past couple of years. Their clothing and items are becoming much more detailed and precise which has been very nice to see as an observer. We usually talk about the features of the game when we think about development -- but the development of the artists is also very important to see as well.

Anyways -- if you're looking for info on the test server and the upcoming version 26 then you should drop in to http://test.endless-online.com/ where you will find all the instructions for connecting and read all the news about that.

As for me. I think I'll be hanging around a little while. It looks like I have another version guide to put together. It's also getting to the point where I'm considering putting together a full manual to the game...I'm probably holding off for another few versions -- but that's the BIG project that I've got planned.

Keep smiling.

What would you do if I sang out of tune...

That's really the theme of today's post. Logging in to Endless-Online lately has reminded me of audition tapes for Canadian Idol -- you recognize that they are trying to make music -- but you realize that ripping your ears off might be a better option.

So it goes for our beloved game. I log in...play for a while...and realize I'm not having fun. Once again the game has become stagnant.

So I do what I always do when Vult-R continues to disappoint by his lack of creative direction and a properly organized team. I go play something else.

Today on the menu is Puzzle Pirates (Link in the Must See). A fun little game in which you take on the role of a pirate. Buy stuff, join crews, and sail across the ocean blue. The game is a bit confusing but the puzzles themselves are a fun diversion. Most of the games are glorified Tetris puzzles but they are head to head against other players.

I recommend giving it a try. You'll find me in the Hunter Ocean with my pet rat Aramax (tee hee!). Otherwise I might pop in on EO but probably not before I get a good hint that quests and v26 are rolling around.

Arrrrrrrr!
